GNU social

I worked across GNU social v2 and led the v3 effort, modernising a long-lived PHP codebase while preserving the interoperability and community practices that make federated software useful. The work was funded in part through the EU Horizon 2020 NGI0 Discovery Fund.

Multi-application spatial AR

A real-time eyewear try-on built from one TypeScript codebase. MediaPipe landmarks drive frame position and perspective while face-aware occlusion keeps the temple arms behind the head.

SotA Lens

An open-source toolkit for exploratory literature mapping through citation networks. A Python pipeline turns scholarly metadata into inspectable graphs and browser-ready datasets; a static explorer keeps local files in the browser.

A little about me

Software engineering,
with systems depth.

I enjoy taking a problem that is still a little vague, making the trade-offs explicit and leaving behind software that another person can understand and operate. PHP, Symfony, SQL and Linux are the tools I know most deeply, but the common thread is careful engineering rather than a particular stack.

My longer record includes GNU social, internal operational tools, self-hosted services, dependable and spatial systems, teaching, technical writing and a few independent products.

Funded open-source leadership

Led GNU social v3 across PHP/Symfony architecture, ActivityPub interoperability, accessibility, releases and contributor mentoring.

Operational software

Built internal tools from business constraints through data models, backend logic, admin workflows, reporting and documentation.

Systems that stay running

Operate Linux services with Nginx, Docker, databases, encrypted storage, backups, monitoring and recovery procedures.
